At 11:30 Beirut time, the Euro was quoted at $/€ 1.1147, the equivalent of €/LBP 1,680.41, appreciating against the US Dollar by 0.23% from yesterday’s close.
This could be mainly a correction after the ECB’s decision yesterday to keep interest rates low and the possibility of expanding its quantitative easing, which drove the Euro down.
Locally, the Lebanese Pound depreciated versus the Dollar from a quote of LP/$ 1,506-1,510 with a mid-price of LP/$ 1,508 to LP/$ 1,508-1,512 with a mid-price of LP/$ 1,510.
Compared to the pool of currencies of Lebanon’s major trading partners, the purchasing power of the Lebanese pound improved as reflected by the NEER, published by BLOMINVEST, which added 0.21% to 167.11 today.
