Dollar Depreciated Just Before the Awaited Fed’s Decision Today

At 15:30 Beirut time, the Euro was quoted at $/€ 1.1320, the equivalent of €/LBP 1,706.49, appreciating against the US Dollar by 0.27% from Wednesday’s close.

Despite bad consumer inflation figures in Europe, U.S. CPI data seemed to have weighed in favor of the Euro today on the expense of the “green back”. Another major factor is the approaching decision regarding U.S. interest rates’ hike as the Fed’s policy meeting is taking place today.

Locally, the Lebanese Pound steadied versus the Dollar at LP/$ 1,508-1,512 with a mid-price of LP/$ 1,510.

Compared to the pool of currencies of Lebanon’s major trading partners, the purchasing power of the Lebanese pound decreased as reflected by the NEER, published by BLOMINVEST, which down ticked by 0.22% to 166.55 today.
