According to Kafalat, the number of granted loans increased from 224 by May 2015 to 289 guarantees in May 2016. The overall value of the guarantees reached $40.39M by May 2016 compared to a value of $32.75M by May 2015.
Mount Lebanon was the region where 40.83% of the guarantees were disbursed, followed by 24.22% disbursed in the Bekaa and 14.19% in the North.
All of these regions benefited from higher numbers of guarantees by May 2016 with the number of guarantees rising from 96 in Mount Lebanon, 41 in Bekaa and 26 in the North by May 2015 to 118, 70 and 41 by May 2016, respectively.
The biggest beneficiary of Kafalat guarantees was the agriculture sector with a share of 46.71%, followed by 29.07% for the industrial sector and 18.34% for tourism.
The number of guarantees granted for the agricultural sector, the industrial sector and the tourism sector all rose from 102, 83 and 21 by May 2015 to 135, 84 and 53 by May 2016, respectively.
