The activity at Rafic Hariri International Airport contracted in January 2017, as the total number of passengers fell by a yearly 1.38% to 539,089. The number of passengers arriving to Lebanon climbed by 1.38% year-on-year (y-o-y) to stand at 246,492 in January 2016. However, the incremental increase in arrivals was offset by the 2.09% yearly decline in departures, which settled at 292,136 in January 2017. As for the number of transit passengers, it fell from 5,096 passengers in the first month of 2016 to 461 passengers in January 2017.
