Cement Deliveries Down by 4.41% y-o-y as Construction Slacked in H1 2017

Cement deliveries contracted by a yearly 4.41% in H1 2017, to stand at 2.39M tons compared to 2.5M tons in H1 2016. The decline is explained by the slack recorded in the performance of the construction sector in the first half of 2017, whereby the number of construction permits contracted by a yearly 2.24% to stand at 8,510 permits by June 2017.

In addition, the six-month moving average of the number of cement deliveries recorded a downtick of 4.41% year-on-year (y-o-y), to reach 398,115 tons in H1 2017.

In the month of June 2017 alone, cement deliveries dropped by an annual 8.5% to 383,295 tons.
