The Number of Airport Passengers Hit a Record High of 6.4M by Sept. 2017

The activity at the Rafic Hariri International Airport continued its substantial growth as the total number of passengers rose by an annual 6.55% to stand at 6.4M in the first 9 months of the year.

In details, the number of arrivals to Lebanon increased by 8.3% year-on-year (y-o-y) to reach 3.2M by September 2017. Over the same period, departures registered a 5.14% annual uptick to 3.19M. The rise in both arrivals and departures can be directly attributed to the summer season, and partly to Eid El Fitr, which extended from August 30th through Sept.2nd.

Meanwhile, the number of transit passengers plunged from 12,234 passengers by September 2016 to 4,059 passengers by Sept. 2017.
