BLOMINVEST BANK launches BRITE, a free economic data portal for the region (brite.blominvestbank.com)

Four Seasons Hotel, Beirut – November 9, 2017– BLOMINVEST BANK, the multi-award winning investment bank in Lebanon and part of BLOM BANK Group, has launched BRITE, an innovative and free economic data and research portal in a conference held under the patronage and in the presence of Dr. Saad Andari, Second Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beirut on November 9, 2017. The conference was attended by Mr. Saad Azhari, Chairman and General Manager of BLOM BANK, Dr. Fadi Osseiran, General Manager of BLOMINVEST BANK, Mr. Tamim Akiki, Economena Analytics founder and Mr. Luca Magni, Moody’s Analytics Associate Director.

BRITE, BLOM Research Indicators and Trends in the Economy, is a result of a collaboration between BLOMINVEST BANK, Economena Analytics and Moody’s Analytics; the website offers free world-class research and analysis tools along with several key support services customized for businesses that cover the Lebanese economy. While trustworthy information is not often available for free on the web, BRITE is the go-to site for academics, researchers and professionals who seek insightful economic information for free.

Mr. Saad Azhari, Chairman and General Manager of BLOM BANK welcomed the attendees and made a speech in which he stressed: “it pleases me to say that we, at BLOM BANK, are committed to always moving forward in our work and achievements not just in the banking or financial sectors but also in research and study. Dr. Saad Andari, Second Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, under whose patronage the conference was held, highlighted the importance of BRITE portal saying: “as Banque du Liban, we would like to grasp this opportunity to announce that we’re launching an initiative in cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Central Administration of Statistics (CAS) to upgrade our data system and move to SDMX (Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange) within 1 to 2 years. The project aims at standardizing and modernizing the mechanisms and processes for the exchange of statistical data and metadata. Hence, we support the BRITE’s initiative which gathers these data in one platform and make it available for everybody.”
