Port of Beirut’s Revenues Slip to $197.6M by Oct. 2017

By Oct., 2017, Port of Beirut (PoB) revenues slipped by an annual 0.75%, to reach $197.6M.

Total container activity including transshipment (TEU+TS) rose by an annual 12.3% to 1.07M twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU). In details, container activity excluding transshipment grew by 4.7% year-on-year (y-o-y) to 742,564 TEU, while transshipment activity escalated by an annual 34.52% to 329,792TEU by Oct. 2017.

MSC and CMA CGM, the two major shipping/logistic firms functioning at the port, observed yearly rises in transshipment activity of 26.7% to 168,467TEU and 28.5% to 121,025TEU, respectively, by October this year.

The number of ships that docked at the PoB reached 1,580 by Oct. 2017, compared to 1,712 in the same period of 2016.

As for the number of imported cars, they declined from 88,492 by Oct. 2016 to 87,971 cars by Oct. 2017.
