Port of Beirut’s Revenues Registered a Minor Drop by November 2017

Port of Beirut (PoB) recorded a slight 0.23% yearly drop in its revenues to reach $218.1M by November 2017.

By November, total container activity including transshipment (TEU+TS) rose by an annual 13.02% to 1.19M twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU). In details, container activity excluding transshipment grew by 4.88% year-on-year (y-o-y) to 821,924 TEU, while transshipment activity escalated by an annual 36.83% to 366,586 TEU by November 2017.

MSC and CMA CGM, the two major shipping/logistic firms functioning at the port, observed yearly rises in transshipment activity of 31.10% to 188,756 TEU and 26.51% to 131,999 TEU, respectively by November 2017.

The total volume of imported and exported merchandise slightly dropped by 1.77% y-o-y to 7,923 tons by November 2017.

The number of ships that docked at the PoB reached 1,743 by November 2017, compared to 1,865 in the same period of 2016.

As for the number of imported cars, they registered a drop of 4.67% from 99,799 cars by November 2016 to 95,143 cars by November 2017.
