According to data from the Lebanese Cadastre Registry, the number of real estate (RE) transactions registered an annual uptick of 13.6%, to reach 95,856 transactions by December 2017.
As such, the total value of the real estate transactions over the period grew by a yearly 18.95% to reach $10.15B by December 2017. Therefore, the average value per transaction rose by 4.71% year-on-year (y-o-y) to stand at $105,903 over the same period.
As for the foreigners’ share in the total number of real estate transactions, it slightly rose from 1.59% by December 2016 to 1.61% by December 2017.
Moreover, the value of foreign RE transactions executed by foreigners decreased by 2.36% y-o-y to settle at $506.21M by December 2017.
In regards to the regional breakdown, Beirut grasped the largest share of total real estate transactions’ value, with a stake of 27.57% by December 2017, followed by Metn and Baabda regions, which grasped shares of 18.14% and 11.65%, respectively.
However, in terms of number of real estate transactions, the regional breakdown by December 2017 ranked the North region first with 15.28% followed by the Metn with a stake of 10.59% and Baabda which grasped a share of 7.95%.
