Port of Beirut revenues registered a slight increase by December 2017.

Port of Beirut (PoB) recorded a slight 0.43% yearly increase in its revenues to reach $239.98M by December 2017.

Total container activity including transshipment (TEU+TS) rose by a yearly rate of 13.76% to 1.31M twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) by December 2017.

 In details, container activity alone grew by 4.93% year-on-year y-o-y to 897,777 TEU by December 2017, while the transshipment activity rose by 39.67% y-o-y to 407,255 TEU by December 2017.

MSC and CMA CGM, the two major shipping/logistic firms functioning at the port, observed yearly rises in transshipment activity of 37.29% to 209,134 TEU and 25.77% to 147,581 TEU, respectively by November 2017.

The total volume of imported and exported merchandise slightly dropped by 1.23% y-o-y to 8,629.2 tons by December 2017.

The number of ships that docked at the PoB reached 1,909 by December 2017, compared to 2,014 in the same period of 2016.

As for the number of imported cars, they registered a drop of 8.42% y-o-y from 111,273 cars by December 2016 to 101,901 cars by December 2017.
