The Number of Airport Passengers Up by a yearly 1.31% in Q1 2019

The activity at Beirut International Airport in the first quarter of the year (Q1 2019) witnessed a slight uptick, with the total number of passengers rising from 1.73M in Q1 2018 to 1.75M in Q1 2019.

In details, the number of arrivals recorded a down tick of 0.16% year-on-year (y-o-y) to stand at 838,866 passengers in Q1 2019. In their turn, departures also slid by a yearly 0.57% to settle at 882,863 passengers over the same period.

As for the number of transit passengers, it is worthy to note that starting January 2019, Beirut International Airport required airlines to share more details on their “transit” data which will explain the substantial rises expected in the number of monthly transits in 2019 compared to previous years. As such, the number of transit passengers hit 29,861 travelers by March 2019, compared to 867 in Q1 2018.
