Cement Deliveries Contracted by 5.2% y-o-y to 1.51M Tons by Apr. 2017

By Apr. 2017, cement deliveries recorded a yearly decline of 5.2%, to stand at 1.51M tons compared to 1.6M tons in the same period last year. This contraction came in parallel to the slowdown witnessed in the country’s construction activity during the first four months of 2017 whereby the number of construction permits fell by 6.29% year-on-year (y-o-y) to 5,485 permits by April 2017.

Moreover, the six-month moving average of the number of cement deliveries lost 7.5% y-o-y to reach 388,971 tons by Apr. 2017.

On a monthly basis, cement deliveries in April also dropped by a yearly 14.2% to 442,010 tons in 2017.
