Number of Real Estate Transactions Rose by 1.75% by August 2016

According to the data published by the Lebanese Cadastre Registry, during the first eight months of this year, the real estate activity maintained a positive performance. The total number of real estate transactions reached 53,095, up by 1.75% from last year’s level. Moreover, the total value of these transactions rose by a yearly 0.25% to $5.41B by August this year, yet the average value per transaction fell 1.48% to $101,978 by August 2016. Figures revealed that foreigners’ share of the total number of real estate transactions went down from 1.99% by August 2015 to 1.54% by August 2016.

In details, Beirut grasped 26.43% of total real estate transactions’ value by August 2016, followed by Metn and Baabda with respective shares of 15.52% and 10.82%. In terms of number of transactions, North of Lebanon ranked first with 5,889 transactions (or 11.10% of the total) and was tracked by Metn (11.02% of the total) and Baabda (8.19% of the total).

Total number of land transactions rose 0.85% to reach 26,579 at a value of $1.71B, while total number of built units’ transactions increased 2.67% to 26,516 worth $3.71B. Accordingly, the average land transaction value registered a 0.72% downtick to $64,262 by August 2016, and the average value per built unit transaction fell 2.30% to $139,782.
