Port of Beirut’s Revenues Added 1.92% by June 2016

 Port of Beirut (PoB) posted a 1.92% yearly increase in its revenues in the first half (H1) of 2016 to $119.86M.

Total container activity including transshipment (TEU+TS) grew by an annual 3.67% to 578,074 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) by June 2016. In details, container activity excluding transshipment hiked by 10.81% year-on-year (y-o-y) to 417,583 TEU, while transshipment activity alone plummeted by an annual 11.22% to 160,491 TEU by June 2016.

MSC, one of the two major shipping/logistic firms operating at the port, witnessed a yearly decrease in transshipment activity of 10.48% to 86,790 TEU, while the transshipment activity of CMA CGM dropped by 7.89% to 64,477 TEU by June 2016.

The number of ships that docked at the PoB increased from 852 in H1 2015 to 1,052 in the same period of 2016.

The total volume of imported and exported merchandise rose by 12.93% y-o-y to 4,432 tons in H1 2016.

The number of imported cars also registered an upturn from 49,408 cars by June 2015 to 52,567 cars by June 2016.
