Port of Beirut’s Revenues Grew 1.13% y-o-y by August 2016

 Port of Beirut (PoB) recorded a 1.13% yearly rise in its revenues by August 2016 to reach $160.54M.

Total container activity including transshipment (TEU+TS) grew by an annual 0.78% to 770,205 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) during the first eight months of the year. In details, container activity excluding transshipment increased 9.16% year-on-year (y-o-y) to 567,721 TEU, while transshipment activity plummeted by an annual 17.06% to 202,484 TEU by August 2016.

As for the two major shipping/logistic firms functioning at the port, MSC and CMA CGM, they witnessed yearly escalations in container activity of 6.73% to 167,819 TEU and 9.65% to 157,241 TEU, respectively by August 2016.

The total volume of imported and exported merchandise mounted 9.68% y-o-y to 5,932 tons in the first 8 months of 2016.

The number of ships that docked at the PoB reached 1,390 by August 2016, compared to 1,179 in the same period of 2015.

As for the number of imported cars, they also registered a growth from 68,901 cars by August 2015 to 69,617 cars by August 2016.
