The Rafic Hariri International Airport activity rose during the first 3 quarters (Q3) of 2016, where the total number of passengers increased by a yearly 8.28% to 6M. this is the highest level attained in the last 10 years.
The number of arrivals to Lebanon went up by 9.27% y-o-y from 2.71M by September 2015 to 2.96M in the same period of 2016. Also, this period witnessed a 7.71% yearly increase in departures, which reached 3.03M by September 2016, versus 2.82M by September 2015. As for the number of transit passengers, it fell 42.16% from 21,151 passengers by Q3 2015 to 12,234 passengers by Q3 2016.
As for the month of September alone, the total number of airport passengers added 9.28% yearly to reach 819,886. Arrivals increased by 12.34% y-o-y to 372,040, and departures jumped 8.24% y-o-y amounting to 447,562. Transit travelers tremendously fell from 5,612 last year to 284 in September 2016.
