According to the Lebanese Ministry of Industry, the value of total industrial exports dropped from $255.3M in October 2015 to $220M in October 2016.
The main exported products were Machinery and Mechanical Appliances (24.08% of total exports), followed by Products of the Chemical Industries, and Prepared Foodstuffs, with the respective values of $46.9M, $40.8M, and $40.4M.
The most notable declines were recorded for exported Base Metals and Articles of Base Metal which fell by 27.56% to $20.5M, and Machinery & Mechanical Appliances that dropped by 12% to $46.9M in October 2016.
Primary export markets for the Lebanese industrial products were Saudi Arabia, Syria, and the United Arab Emirates, with respective shares of 9.8%, 8.8% and 8.7% of total exports.
As for imports of Machinery and Industrial Equipment, they fell from $16.5M in October 2015 to $14.5M in October 2016.
Imports of Machinery for Food Industries grasped the largest share of total imports with a value of $2.7M, of which $0.8M were imported from China. Machines used for Rubber & Plastic-manufacturing accounted for $2M of which $0.8M were imported from Canada.
