Value of Kafalat Guarantees Dropped to $92.91M by the End of the Year

According to Kafalat, the number of loan guarantees grew from 682 guarantees by December 2015 to 712 guarantees by December 2016. The overall value of the guarantees fell by 1.65% y-o-y to reach $92.91M by December 2016 compared to a value of $94.47M during the same time in 2015.

During the year, the top three beneficiaries of Kafalat guarantees were agriculture, industry and tourism sectors, with respective shares of 46.07%, 30.90%, and 17.13%. As per sectors, the number of loans granted by Kafalat for the agricultural sector rose from 318 by December 2015 to 328 by December 2016, while loan guarantees for the industrial sector dropped from 244 to 220, over the same period.

Geographically, 43.12% of the guarantees were disbursed in Mount Lebanon, followed by 20.93% granted in the Bekaa and 11.60% in the South. The number of guarantees reached 307, 149, and 87 in Mount Lebanon, Bekaa and the South, respectively.
