Total BDL Assets Reached $102.73B in Mid- January 2017

According to the balance sheet of the Lebanese Central Bank (BdL), total assets grew by 0.40% in mid- January year-to-date (y-t-d). On a monthly basis, total assets marginally dropped 0.08% from Mid-December’s 2016 level to reach $102.73B.

Foreign assets (39.55% of total assets) and gold reserves (10.75% of the total assets) revealed an increase of 1.12% and 6.05% between mid-December 2016 and Mid-January of 2017 to $40.63B and $11.04B, respectively. Nonetheless, securities’ portfolio (25.09% of the total assets) registered a 1.08% fall over the same period to reach $25.78B by mid-January 2017.

As for loans to the financial sector (6.23% share of total assets), they rose by a monthly 0.59% to $6.40B in mid-January 2017.

On the liabilities side, financial sector deposits, grasping an 81.11% share of the total, grew by 0.48% during the same period to $83.32B. Public sector deposits (6.29% of total liabilities) rose by 1.53% to reach $6.46B in mid-January- 2017.
