The revenues of the Port of Beirut (PoB) amounted to $19.38M in January 2017 up from $18.37M in January 2016.
In details and over the same period, total container activity including transshipment (TEU+TS) added 5.79% to stand at 97,217 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU).
In January 2017, container activity excluding transshipment rose by a yearly 1.64% to reach 66,862 TEU in January 2017 while transshipment surged by a yearly 16.23% to 30,355 TEU.
The transshipment volumes of the two main companies operating on the port rose substantially with that of MSC rising by an annual 17.53% to 16,631 TEU and that of CMA CGM rising by 10.32% to 11,893 TEU.
The total volume of imported and exported merchandise fell by an annual 7.59% to 631,100 tons and the number of imported cars also slid by a yearly 3.65% to 9,309.
The number of ships docking at PoB declined from 153 in January 2016 to 128 in January 2017.
