Number of Real Estate Transactions in Lebanon Down by 18.2% y-o-y in H1 2018

According to the data from the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre (LRC), the number of RE transactions, which may include one or more realties, decreased by a yearly 18.20% to reach 27,472 transactions by June 2018.  The value of total RE transactions also dropped by an annual 14.01% to stand at $3.87B. However, the average value per transaction rose from $134,105 by June 2017 to $140,971 by June 2018.

In addition, foreigners executed 559 transactions of the total in H1 2018, compared to 599 in H1 2017. Meanwhile, the foreigners’ share of total real estate transactions over the same period accounted for 2.03%, compared to 1.78% in H1 last year.

As for the regional breakdown, 19.5% of the total number of real estate transactions was concentrated in Baabda, equivalent to a total of 5,353 transactions worth $724.97M in H1 2018. In its turn, the North grasped 15.68% of total transactions, amounting to 4,308 transactions worth $248.42M by June 2018. Over the same period, Zahle followed, grasping a share of 12.88% of total real estate transactions with a total of 3,539 transactions at a value of $163.81M.
