Number of Real Estate Transactions Down by 16.82% y-o-y by July 2018

According to the data from the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre (LRC), the number of RE transactions, which may include one or more realties, decreased by a yearly 16.82% to reach 33,199 transactions by July 2018.  The value of total RE transactions followed suit, declining by an annual 15.41% to stand at $4.56B. However, the average value per transaction rose from $134,988 by July 2017 to $137,267 by July 2018.

In addition, foreigners executed 669 transactions of the total number of RE transaction by July 2018, compared to 707 during the same period last year. The foreigners’ share of total real estate transactions accounted for 2.02% by July 2018, compared to 1.77% by July last year.

As for the regional breakdown of transactions, Baabda grasped the lion’s share of transactions grasping 19.66% of the total number of real estate transactions by July 2018, equivalent to a total of 6,527 transactions worth $863.5M. The North followed, grasping 15.71% of total transactions, amounting to 5,214 transactions worth $297.8M by July 2018. In its turn, Zahle followed, grasping a share of 12.70% of total real estate transactions with a total of 4,217 transactions at a value of $194M.
