According to the Association of Lebanese Car Importers (AIA), the total number of newly registered commercial and passenger cars deteriorated by an annual 9.08% to stand at 30,545 by October 2018. This was triggered by the 8.73% yearly drop in the number of newly registered passenger cars to 28,590 and the 13.95% drop in the newly registered commercial vehicles to 1,955 by October 2018.
In terms of car brands, Kia maintained its top rank, with the largest share of 15.60% of newly registered passenger cars, followed by Hyundai and Toyota with shares of 13.08% and 12.90% respectively and Nissan with an 11.94 % of the total.
In terms of sales per importer, RYMCO acquired the biggest bulk of the total newly registered cars with 15.29%, followed by NATCO (14.65%), BUMC (13.20%) And Century Motor Co (12.54%).
In the Month of October , The number of new cars registered dropped by 26% comparing to the same period last year .In fact , according to AIA this can be linked to the banks ‘decision to impose a down payment of 25% and raise the interest rate from 3.9% to 6.25% on car loans
