The Number of Real Estate Transactions fell by 17.63% y-o-y by October  2018

 According to the data from the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre (LRC), the number of real estate (R.E) transactions which may include one or more realties, dropped by a yearly 17.63% to stand at 49,652 transactions by Oct.2018. In its turn, the value of total RE transactions stood at $6.60B, also contracting by 18.95% over the same period. As such, the average value per transaction declined from 135,289 by October 2017 to 133,108 in the same period this year.

In addition, the foreigners’ share of the total number of real estate transactions increased to reach 1.92% by October 2018, compared to 1.80% in the same period last year. As such, foreigners executed 952 transactions by October 2018 compared to 1087 by October last year.

In a regional breakdown, the largest number of transactions was executed in Baabda, which grasped a share of 19.65% of the total (equivalent to 9,757 transactions) worth $1.3B by October 2018. The North and Zahle followed, with stakes of 15.65% and 12.60% of total transactions, amounting $446.5M and $271.2M, respectively. Moreover, the South constituted 11.71% of total real estate transactions worth $482.1M over the same period.
