Lebanon’s Trade Deficit Up in 2018

Lebanon’s economy is heavily based on consumption and since the main supply-side sectors of the economy such as real estate, trade, and public administration do not produce the consumption goods in demand, the goods needed are therefore imported which lead to the important current account deficit. In fact, Lebanon’s trade deficit registered an increase of 1.73% year-on-year (y-o-y) to reach $17.03B by the end of 2018 .
