Cement deliveries were slashed by an annual 20.91% in the first month of 2019, to stand at 217,379 tons compared to 274,856 tons in the beginning of 2018. In fact, this can be explained by the decrease in the number of construction permits by a yearly 27.44% to settle at 841 permits in January 2019 according to the Orders of Engineers in Beirut and Tripoli.
In addition, the six-month moving average of the number of cement deliveries also fell by 16.67% year-on-year (y-o-y), to settle at 356,725 tons in January 2019.
