In this paper, we try to focus on the published breakdown of Lebanon’s deposits and analyze the changes in accounts’ currency, number, and value from 2018 and 2019 especially following the eruption of the social protests in October 2019 and the unofficial capital controls set by Commercial Banks. Moreover, in the last section, we study the changes of private sector deposits obtained from the banking sector’s balance sheet. Worth mentioning that we included these deposits in our study given the fact that we can see the monthly changes of deposits in local and foreign currency for resident and non-resident customers.
