Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) Dropped to 77 points in August

According to ARA Marketing Research and Consultancy, the Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) recorded an 8 points monthly drop to 77 points in August. The decline was due to the clashes that occurred between the Lebanese security forces and the militants in Arsal.

The loss of confidence resulting from the worsening security developments triggered down the Security Situation Index by 51 points since July to 143 points end of August.

Likewise the Purchase of Durable Goods Index plummeted by 74 points to 107 points in August. Moreover, the latter is expected to experience a greater fall after summer season ends and expats go back to their countries of residence.

The Current Economic Situation Index lost 46 points to reach 93 points. However, the Current Personal Income Index almost stabilized, revealing a slight increase of 3 points to 94 points in August.

On the other hand, consumer sentiment for the coming period seemed optimistic as the Expected Economic Situation Index and the Expected Personal Income Index rose by 2 points and 6 points, to 55 points and 66 points, respectively.
