Revenues of Port of Beirut decreased by 29.59% to $7.57M by September 2021

The latest statistics on activity at the Port of Beirut show an annual decrease of 29.59% in the revenues of the Port of Beirut (PoB) to $7.578M by September 2021, compared to last year’s $10.76M.

Accordingly, total container activity including transshipment (TEU+TS) dropped by a yearly 15.10% to stand at 53,777 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU), with container activity (TS) alone decreased by 5.25% year-on-year (YOY) to 43,275 TEU by September 2021. In its turn, transshipment activity (TEU) decreased by 40.57% YOY to 10,502 TEU over the same period.

In more details, the transshipment volume of CMA CGM one of the two major shipping lines operating at the Port of Beirut decreased by 20.07% YOY to 10,126 TEU by September 2021. In the same token, the transshipment activity of MSC decreased by 91.16% YOY to 98 TEU by September 2021. In addition, the local volume of CMA CGM increased by 18.27% to reach 12,953 TEU, while the local volume of MSC increased by 0.43% to stand at 7,533 TEU for the month of September 2021.
