The BLOM Stock Index (BSI) compiled by BLOMInvest Bank on a daily basis increased weekly by 4.05% to reach 1,660.516 on May 24th, 2024 up from 1,595.839 on May 17th, 2024. Similarly, the market capitalization on the Beirut Stock Exchange (BSE) rose weekly from $16.36B to $17.02B. The average volume and value of trades also totaled 43,932 shares worth $2,500,664 compared to 3,752 shares worth $254,529 last week.

On the Beirut Stock Exchange (BSE), the real estate sector grasped the lion’s share of the BSE’s trading value with a stake of 98.33%, the industrial sector grasped 0.58%, while the banking sector grasped the remaining 1.09%. The most noteworthy trades throughout the mentioned period included:

  • Solidere (A) shares rose by 3.17% to settle at $70 / share
  • Solidere (B) shares rose by 6.14% to settle at $70 / share
  • Byblos Listed shares rose by 9.09% to settle at $0.6 / share
  • Holcim shares rose by 5.7% to settle at $63 / share
  • CB(N) shares rose by 46.51% to settle at $31.5/ share

As for the BLOM Preferred Shares Index (BPSI), it remained constant at 35.15 by May 24th, 2024.

The Arab stock market contracted this week as S&P Pan Arab and MSCI dropped respectively by 1.67% and 0.41% to stand at 937.84 and 1095.29 points by the end of this week. Moreover, the bourse of UAE and Saudi Arabia contracted respectively by 2.09% and 1.66% while bourse of Tunisia and Egypt expanded respectively by 2.73% and 4.06% by May 24th, 2024.

The US market fluctuated this week as S&P 500 dropped by 0.55% to stand at 5,267.84 points, meanwhile NASDAQ expanded by 0.23% to stand at 16,736.04 points by May 24th, 2024 compared to the previous week.

Europe’s stock markets contracted this week as DAX Germany, CAC 40 France and FTSE 100 Britain declined respectively by 0.47%, 0.79% and 1.22% to stand at 18,616.19, 8,087.61 and 8,307.73 points by May 24th compared to the previous week. Similarly, NIKKEI Japan declined by 0.36% to reach 38,646.11 points by May 24th compared to the previous week.
