Speculation on US Interest Rate Hike Pressure the Euro

At 11:30 Beirut time, the Euro was quoted at $/€ 1.0964, down ticking by 0.01% from Friday’s close.

In general news, NFP (Non-Farm Payroll) States data were good enough to keep speculation on point that interest rates will rise by next month. This was until Goldman Sachs revealed that it doesn’t see a rate hike before December.

Locally, the Lebanese Pound steadied versus the Dollar at LP/$ 1,505-1,509 with a mid-price of LP/$ 1,507.

Compared to the pool of currencies of Lebanon’s major trading partners, the purchasing power of the Lebanese pound slipped as reflected by the NEER, published by BLOMINVEST, which ticked down by 0.07% to 166.74 today.
