Banking Stocks Held Back the Lebanese Bourse During the Last Session of the Week

The Beirut Stock Exchange (BSE) had a poor showing mainly on the back of a weak performance in the banking sector. Accordingly, the BLOM Stock Index (BSI) lost 0.36% on Friday to 1,108.49 points following the trade of 3,687,366 shares worth $34,700,690. In the banking sector, Byblos Bank listed shares, BLOM Bank GDRs, and Bank Audi GDRs each decreased by 0.62%, 0.21%, and 0.67% to end the session at respective closing prices of $1.60, $9.58 and $5.95. In contrast, Byblos Bank preferred shares 09 gained 0.50% to $100.90. Meanwhile, $3.58M of BLOM Bank listed shares were cross traded at their previous quote of $9.45 while BoB preferred shares class “I” traded with no change in value. In the real estate sector, Solidere class “A” shares decreased by 3.53% to $8.20. In contrast, Solidere “B” shares gained 1.33% to close at $8.36. In the industrial sector, Holcim shares changed hands with no change in price.
