Bright Performance of Banking Stocks Boosts the Lebanese Bourse Today

The Beirut Stock Exchange ended the first session of the week in the green following improving performance of the Lebanese financial stocks. The BLOM Stock Index (BSI) increased by 1.02% on Monday to 1,148.18 points, registering a 1.89% year-to-date loss, and 2.16% year-on year drop. Furthermore, activity significantly improved as 7.28M shares were traded worth $68.54M compared to 51,682 shares worth $438,515 last Wednesday. However, out of the total traded shares, 7.16M BLOM listed shares were cross traded at their previous quote of $9.40. Bank Audi listed and GDR shares gained 4.17% and 5.26% to settle at respective quotes of $5.99 and $6.00. In addition, Byblos preferred shares 2008 and 2009 increased by 0.70% and 0.30% to converged to the same quote of $101.00, respectively. In the real estate sector, Solidere shares classes “A” augmented by 0.10% to settle at $10.22 while the “B” shares dropped 1.75% to $10.12.  In the industrial sector, Ciments Blancs Bearer shares added 14.29% to close the session at $4.00, while Holcim shares exchanged hands with no change in price.
