Number of Registered New Cars Reached 19,648 by June 2017

According to the Association of Lebanese Car Importers, the number of newly registered commercial and passenger cars registered a slight drop of 0.51% year-on-year (y-o-y) to 19,648 cars by June 2017. This drop in the number of registered cars was mainly due to the 1.33% yearly fall in the number of newly registered passenger cars to 18,198 and the 11.20% growth in newly registered commercial vehicles to 1,450 by June 2017.

In details, Japanese model cars occupied the largest market share of 35.84% in total cars, since the beginning of the year up to June 2017. Korean cars followed, with a market share of 34.37% by June 2017, while European cars ranked third with a market share of 20.95%.

In terms of car brands, Kia attained the largest share of newly registered passenger cars of 21.22%, followed by Hyundai, Toyota and Nissan with respective shares of 13.02%, 12.12%, and 9.32%.

As for sales per importer, Natco obtained the highest share of newly registered cars with 19.66% of the total, followed by Rasamny-Younis Motor with 13.53%, BUMC with 12.57% and Century Motor Co. with 12.57% and 12.38%, respectively.
