Port of Beirut Revenues Up in the First Month of 2018

The revenues of the Port of Beirut (PoB) amounted to $21.01M in January 2018 up from $19.38M in January 2017.

In details and over the same period, total container activity including transshipment (TEU+TS) added 9.82% to stand at 106,760 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU).

In January 2018, container activity excluding transshipment rose by a yearly 2.88% to reach 68,789 TEU while transshipment surged by a yearly 25.09% to 37,971 TEU.

The transshipment volumes of the two main companies operating on the port rose substantially with that of MSC rising by an annual 0.98% to 16,794 TEU and that of CMA CGM rising by 36.23% to 16,202 TEU.

The total volume of imported and exported merchandise fell by an annual 1.25% to 639 tons and the number of imported cars also slid by a yearly 31.72% to 6,356.

The number of ships docking at PoB rose from 128 in January 2017 to 153 in January 2018.
