Real Estate Sector Held Back the Beirut Stock Exchange Today

Despite improved trading activity, the Lebanese Bourse ended in the red for the 3rd consecutive session on Wednesday, mainly on the back of the continued negative performance in the real estate sector. The BLOM Stock Index (BSI) declined by 0.16% to 1,126.04 points following the trade of 77,974 shares worth $2,188,096 compared to 65,963 shares worth $1,418,002 yesterday. In the real estate sector, Solidere shares classes “A” and “B” lost 0.87% and 1.31% to settle at respective quotes of $9.12 and $9.05. In the banking sector, Byblos preferred shares 2008 gained 0.30% to close the session at $100.50 while the GDRs of BLOM traded with no change in price.
