BDL’s Foreign Reserve Assets Stand at $11.4B after an $81.73M Decrease in the Last Two Weeks of September 2026
According to Banque du Liban’s (BDL) balance sheet, the Central Bank’s total assets decreased by 1.65% Year-on-Year (YoY), reaching $92.97B by end of September 2026.
Furthermore, the gold account, representing 41.54% of BDL’s total assets, increased by 9.80% yearly to reach $38.62B by end of September 2026. In addition, BDL foreign reserve assets, consisting of 12.26% of total assets fell by 3.03% YoY and stood at $11.4B by end of September 2026. Moreover, foreign reserve assets decreased by $81.73M in the last two weeks of September 2026.
On the liabilities front, financial sector deposits, representing 85.84% of BDL’s total liabilities, decreased by 5.39% annually and reached $79.8B by end of September 2026 compared to last year, of which more than 90% are denominated in dollars. Moreover, public sector deposits, representing 11.15% of BDL’s total liabilities, increased by 28.95% yearly and reached $10.4B by end of September 2026. Lastly, currency in circulation outside of BDL, consisting of 0.67% of BDL’s total liabilities, fell by 25.23% annually to reach $622.9M by end of September 2026.
