US Stock Market expanded over the course of the week

The BLOM Stock Index (BSI) compiled by BLOMInvest Bank on a daily basis slightly declined weekly by 0.51% to reach 1,660.37 on June 7th, 2024 down from 1,668.83 on May 31st, 2024. Similarly, the market capitalization on the Beirut Stock Exchange (BSE) fell weekly from $17.02B to $17.017. The average volume and value of trades also totaled 27,585 shares worth $745,001 compared to 34,654 shares worth $1,403,595 last week.

On the Beirut Stock Exchange (BSE), the real estate sector grasped the lion’s share of the BSE’s trading value with a stake of 89.35%, the industrial sector grasped 6.72%, while the banking sector grasped the remaining 3.93%. The most noteworthy trades throughout the mentioned period included:

  • Solidere (A) shares dropped by 0.07% to settle at $70 / share
  • Solidere (B) shares rose by 0.07% to settle at $69.75 / share
  • Byblos Listed shares fell by 5.97% to settle at $0.63 / share
  • Blom GDR shares rose by 5.06% to settle at $3.32/ share
  • Holcim shares fell by 5.77% to settle at $62.05 / share

As for the BLOM Preferred Shares Index (BPSI), it remained constant at 35.15 by June 7th, 2024.

The Arab stock market expanded this week as S&P Pan Arab and MSCI rose respectively by 0.73% and 1.32% to stand at 918.54 and 1062.79 points by the end of this week. Moreover, the bourse of Qatar, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia expanded respectively by 2.29%, 1.2% and 0.49% while bourse of Kuwait and Egypt contracted respectively by 0.17% and 1.84% by June 7th, 2024.

The US market expanded this week as S&P 500 rose respectively by 1.43% and 2.62% to stand at 5,352.96 and 17,173.12 points by June 7th, 2024 compared to the previous week. Europe’s stock markets fluctuated this week as DAX Germany rose by 0.11% to reach 18,502.3, while CAC 40 France and FTSE 100 Britain declined respectively by 0.03% and 0.3% to stand at 7,975.67 and 8,239.34 points by June 7th compared to the previous week. Furthermore, NIKKEI Japan rose by 0.51% to reach 38,683.93 points by June 7th compared to the previous week.
