The BLOM Stock Index (BSI) compiled by BLOM Invest Bank on a daily basis increased weekly by 0.35% to reach 1,796.07 on August 2nd, 2024 up from 1,789.88 on July 26th, 2024. Similarly, the market capitalization on the Beirut Stock Exchange (BSE) rose weekly from $18.34B to $18.41B. The average volume and value of trades also totaled 36,918 shares worth $ 1,952,005 compared to 72,409 shares worth $3,846,365 last week.
On the Beirut Stock Exchange (BSE), the real estate sector grasped the lion’s share of the BSE’s trading value with a stake of 97.69%, while the banking sector grasped the remaining 2.32%. The most noteworthy trades throughout the mentioned period included:
As for the BLOM Preferred Shares Index (BPSI), it decreased from 31.8 on July 26th, 2024 to 27.78 on August 2nd, 2024.
The Arab stock market expanded this week as S&P Pan Arab and MSCI rose respectively by 0.42% and 1.16% to stand at 967.92 and 1,084.77 points by the end of this week. Moreover, the bourse of Egypt, Kuwait and Qatar rose respectively by 0.93%, 0.83%, and 0.32% while bourse of Tunisia contracted by 0.79% by August 2nd, 2024.
The US market contracted this week as S&P 500 and NASDAQ fell respectively by 0.23% and 0.94% to stand at 5,446.68 and 17,194.14 points by August 2nd, 2024, compared to the previous week.
Europe’s stock markets contracted also this week as DAX Germany, CAC 40 France and FTSE 100 Britain fell respectively by 3.33%, 1.68% and 0.54% compared to the previous week to reach 17,804.52, 7,302.07 and 8,241.1 points by August 2th, 2024. Furthermore, NIKKEI Japan declined by 4.67% to reach 35,909.7 points by August 2nd, 2024 compared to the previous week.
