On February 6th, 2025, the Central Bank issued two intermediate circulars 724 (decision 13694) and 725 (decision 13695) amending previous basic circulars 85 and 18 respectively.
Intermediate circular 724 (decision 13694) adds to the basic circular 85 related to statistics data as a subsection. It states that all banks must send to the Statistics and Economic Research department at the Central Bank an excel sheet showing information about partial or complete settlement of foreign currency loans after 31/10/2019. The deadline for sending these data was February 19th, 2025. The circular became effective upon publication and published in the official gazette.
Intermediate circular 725 (decision 13695) amends basic circular 18 related to average interest and interbank loans’ volumes between banks and financial institutions. The new circular urges banks and financial institutions to send to Statistics and Economic Research department at the Central Bank on daily basis and before 4 pm a report showing data regarding interbank loans in LBP, USD, and Euro. These data include type of credit operation, currency, effective duration in days, nominal value, average interest rate, other party, and if directly or indirectly executed through another financial intermediary company. The circular published in the official gazette and becomes effective one week after its issuance.
