Number of Airport Passengers Up 5.18% Annually YTD by May 2025

The cumulative activity at Rafic Hariri International Airport rose by 5.18% year-on-year (YoY) to 2,410,668 travelers. This increase was driven by a 10.69% cumulative YoY increase in arrivals, which totaled 1,261,576. This marks the highest number of cumulative arrivals recorded in May since 2019. This rise was supported by more Gulf visitors coming to Lebanon following the UAE’s decision to lift its four-year travel ban.
Notably, this growth comes despite ongoing Israeli strikes on Lebanon, which are now mostly limited to specific areas. This shift has eased broader security concerns, with many viewing the situation as more stable and contained.
On a monthly basis, airport passengers’ activity fell by 5.86%, despite a 5.85% increase in arrivals. The arrivals rise comes as summer begins and the academic year ends in many countries abroad—boosting travel as families visit, expatriates return home, and holiday plans pick up with the warmer weather and school breaks.
