Port of Beirut (PoB) registered a marginal 0.38% yearly increase in its revenues during the first seven months of the year to reach $138.68M.
Total container activity including transshipment (TEU+TS) rose by an annual 2.32% to 866,486 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) by August 2018. Particularly, container activity excluding transshipment dropped by a slight 0.82% year-on-year (y-o-y) to 580,997 TEU, while transshipment activity increased by an annual 9.36% to 285,489 TEU by August 2018.
MSC, one of the two major shipping/logistic firms functioning at the port, witnessed a 16.11% drop in transshipment activity to 108,397, while CMA CGM observed a yearly rise of 31.91% to 129,200 TE,U by August 2018.
The number of ships that docked at the PoB reached increased to 1,091 by August 2018, compared to 1,087 in the same period of 2017.
As for the number of imported cars, they also recorded a drop of 33.79% to 43,991 cars by August 2018.
