Port of Beirut: Cumulative Total Container Activity Rose 48.17% YoY by March 2025 to 179,808 TEU

Cumulative container activity at the Port of Beirut rose by 48.17% year-over-year (YoY) to 179,808 TEU by March 2025. Cumulative container activity, referring to cargo loaded onto or unloaded from ships at the port; saw an increase of 11.41% YoY to 136,705 TEU. However, cumulative transshipment activity, which involves cargo transferred from one ship to another at an intermediate port, decreased by 23.35% YoY to 43,103 TEU. This decrease may be driven from effects of clashes on the Syrian coast to renewed escalation between Israel and Hezbollah

It is worth noting that total activity increased by 10.20% month-over-month (MoM) to 68,785 TEU, may be driven due to a rise in humanitarian aid shipments and reconstruction imports driven by ongoing economic and social recovery efforts.
