M3 Recorded $68.81 Billion Over the Period Ending May 8, 2025

BDL’s latest statistics on money supply revealed that Broad Money (M3) declined by LBP 16,704.8 billion to stand at LBP 6,158,262 billion ($68.81 billion) by the week ending May 8th, 2025. Furthermore, on an annual basis, M3 decreased by 3.15% year-over-year and by 0.085% since year start (YTD). Noting that effective February 8th 2024, the official exchange rate has been set at LBP 89,500 per dollar.

In details, M1 contracted by LBP 2,709.24 billion during the week of 2 to 8 May 2025, due to a decrease in demand deposits of LBP 3,031.66 billion and an increase in currency in circulation of LBP 322.42 billion.

In turn, total deposits (excluding Demand deposits) decreased by LBP 13,995.55 billion ($156.37 million), owing to a regression in term and saving deposits by LBP 460.66 billion during the week and a decline in deposits denominated in foreign currencies by USD 151.23 million compared to the previous week.

As such, the rate of broad money dollarization increased from 97.525% in the week ending May 1st, 2025 to 97.57% in the week ending May 8th, 2025.
