Positive Chinese Outlook Might have Affected the Euro Today

At 11:30 Beirut time, the Euro was quoted at $/€ 1.1177, the equivalent of €/LBP 1,684.93, depreciating against the US Dollar by 0.23% from Monday’s close.

The Euro slumped today relative to the Dollar, possibly on the back of positive Chinese economic data where brighter than expected GDP figures were recorded hand in hand with a widening trade surplus.

Locally, the Lebanese Pound depreciated versus the Dollar from LP/$ 1,508-1,512 with a mid-price of LP/$ 1,510 to LP/$ 1,509-1,513 with a mid-price of LP/$ 1,511.

Compared to the pool of currencies of Lebanon’s major trading partners, the purchasing power of the Lebanese pound declined as reflected by the NEER, published by BLOMINVEST, which down ticked by 0.07% to 167.15 today.
