BSI down by 4.05% by the end of week

The BLOM Stock Index (BSI) compiled by BLOMInvest Bank on a daily basis decreased weekly by 4.05% to reach 1,625.875 on April 26th, 2024 down from 1,694.427 on April 19th, 2024. Similarly, the market capitalization on the Beirut Stock Exchange (BSE) decreased weekly from $17.37B to $16.66B. The average volume and value of trades also totaled 11,938 shares worth $837,429 compared to 24,985 shares worth $1,752,115 last week.

On the Beirut Stock Exchange (BSE), the real estate sector grasped the lion’s share of the BSE’s trading value with a stake of 92.03%, the industrial sector grasped the remaining 7.97% of the shares. The most noteworthy trades throughout the mentioned period included:

  • Solidere (A) shares fell by 2.02% to settle at $72.9/ share
  • Solidere (B) shares fell by 9.08% to settle at $67.1/ share
  • HOLCIM shares declined by 10% to settle at $54/ share

As for the BLOM Preferred Shares Index (BPSI), it remained constant at 35.15 by April 26th, 2024.

The Arab stock market fluctuated this week as S&P Pan Arab dropped by 2.07% to stand at 954.75 points while MSCI rose by 2.2% to stand at 1,034.69 points by the end of this week. Moreover, the bourse of UAE and Saudi Arabia contracted respectively by 1.5% and 1.98% while bourse of Tunisia and Kuwait expanded respectively by 1.17% and 0.26% by April 26th, 2024.

In the US, S&P 500 and NASDAQ expanded respectively by 0.74% and 0.07% to stand at 5,048.42 and 15,611.76 points by April 26th, 2024 compared to the previous week. As for Europe’s stock market, DAX Germany, CAC 40 France and FTSE 100 Britain expanded respectively by 1.91%, 0.61% and 3.51% to stand at 18,054.79, 8,037.19, and 8,109.91 points by April 26th, 2024. Similarly, NIKKEI expanded by 2.34% by the end of the week to stand at 37,934.76 points by April 26th, 2024.
