BSI Up by 2.43% to 782.61 points

The BLOM Stock Index (BSI) gained 2.43% to end the week ending December 27th at 782.61 points.. Accordingly, The BSE’s market capitalization rose from $7.45B last week to $7.65B, this week. In fact, an average of 83,499 shares worth $573,529 was traded during this week compared to 24,201 shares worth $198,998 last week.

Meanwhile, the regional equity indices climbed over the week, with the S&P Pan Arab Composite Large Mid Cap Index increasing by 0.46%, while the S&P AFE 40 climbed by a weekly 0.39% and in its turn, the MSCI Emerging Markets Index climbed by a weekly 1.43%.

Regionally, the week’s largest gainers were Dubai and Bahrain bourses which respectively rose by 0.99% and 0.50%. Meanwhile, the biggest losers of the week were the financial markets of Tunisia, and Dubai which respectively lost 0.80% and 0.13% respectively over the past week.

On the Beirut Stock Exchange (BSE), the banking sector grasped 61.17% of the total traded value while the real estate (RE) sector grasped the remaining share of 38.83%.

In details, share prices of Solidere A and B declined by  4.76% and 4.80% to close at $6.81 and $6.75, respectively, by the week ending January 3, 2020.

Meanwhile, the BLOM Preferred Stock Index (BPSI) witnessed a weekly rise by 0.08% to 75.18 points In fact, 52,000 shares of BOB Pref H were traded at a price of $25 with a total value of $1.3M.

On the London Stock Exchange, BLOM GDR shares increased by 23.53% to close at $2.10.  Moreover, Audi recorded an uptick by 0.67% to $1.51 while Byblos GDR shares remained unchanged to close at $70.
