BSI up by the end of the third week of March

The BLOM Stock Index (BSI) compiled by BLOMInvest Bank on a daily basis increased weekly by 0.67% to reach 1,694.750 on March 22, 2024 up from 1,683.396 on March 15, 2024. Similarly, the market capitalization on the Beirut Stock Exchange (BSE) increased weekly from $17.25B to $17.37B. The average volume and value of trades also totaled 60,500 shares worth $1,188,425 compared to 19,623 shares worth $578,832 last week.

 

On the Beirut Stock Exchange (BSE), the real estate sector grasped the lion’s share of the BSE’s trading value with a stake of 77.74%, while the banking sector and industrial sector grasped the respective remaining shares of 5.94% and 16.32%.  The most noteworthy trades throughout the mentioned period included:

  • Solidere (A) shares decreased by 1.27% to settle at $74/ share
  • Solidere (B) shares rose by 0.55% to settle at $72.6/ share
  • BLOM Listed shares increased by 24.56% to settle at $3.5/ share
  • Holcim shares increased by 0.08% to settle at $59.65/ share
  • Audi (GDR) shares increased by 3.45% to settle at $1.2/ share
  • Byblos shares dropped by 1.72% to settle at $0.57/share

As for the BLOM Preferred Shares Index (BPSI), it remained constant at 39.62 by March 22, 2024.

 

The Arab stock market fluctuated this week as S&P Pan Arab rose by 0.51% to stand at 1,008.13 points while MSCI decreased by 0.25% to reach 1,032.12 points by the end of this week. Moreover, the bourse of Tunisia and Saudi Arabia expanded respectively by 1.39% and 0.84% while bourse of Egypt, Morocco and Qatar contracted by 7.22%, 0.96% and 0.44% respectively by March 22, 2024.

 

In the US, S&P 500 expanded by 2.43% to stand at 5,241.53 points by March 22, 2024 compared to the previous week. As for Europe’s stock market, CAC 40 France, FTSE 100 Britain, and DAX Germany expanded respectively by 0.12%, 2.86% and 1.44% to stand at 8,174.24, 7,948.18, and 18,194.32 points by March 22, 2024.

 

Similarly, NIKKEI expanded by 5.63% by the end of the week to stand at 40,888.43 points by March 22, 2024.
