BREXIT and Upcoming Fed Meeting Boost the Dollar Against the Euro

At 12:30 pm Beirut time, the Euro was quoted at €/$ 1.1214, the equivalent of €/LBP 1,690.51, depreciating slightly by 0.70% against the US Dollar.

The dollar appreciated against the Euro today, as traders are considering upcoming risks that include next week’s Federal Reserve meeting and the potential exit of the UK from the European Union.

Locally, the Dollar depreciated against the Lebanese Pound with the exchange rate moving from $/LP 1,514-1,514.50 with a mid-price of $/LP 1,514.25 to $/LP 1,513.5-1,514.50 with a mid-price of $/LP 1,514.

Compared to the pool of currencies of Lebanon’s major trading partners, the purchasing power of the Lebanese Pound appreciated as reflected by the NEER, published by BLOMINVEST, which witnessed a 0.12% uptick to 166.65 points today.
